An example of wide spread inferno is the
Bhopal Gas Tragedy of India. The production of the harmful
pesticide used a deadly gas, methyl isocynate. A small
careless mistake in the factory caused the combustion
of the gas to spread all over Bhopal. The effects were
deadly with many casualties and an enormous mound of
corpses. Epidemics broke out to increase the number
of deaths. This accident is considered as the worst
industrial fire disaster in history with its after affects
prevailing in the children and lineage of the initial
victims.
A water disaster has similar effects on
the people but the loss of life is caused due to downing.
Even here, there are extreme situations of water contamination,
spoilage of harvest that results in acute shortage of
food supplies and other necessities.
One of the greatest water disasters that
affected many countries at on shot is the under-sea
earthquake in the Indian Ocean. It affected the countries
of India, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Maldives,
and Somalia. The shipping industry of these countries
was completely uprooted. The fishing class was the most
affected in terms of economy due to the loss of boats
and other fishing equipments. Similar to the conditions
of a fire disaster, epidemics of vaster magnitude broke
out which increased the intensity of death numbers.
Nations all over the world had to contribute
funds to provide basis necessities to the victims. This
is because the funds of UNO and the central governments
of the nations could not suffice to offer the basic
needs. Though immediate rescue programs were sent to
the affected areas, the death count could not be decreased.
Reports suggested that most among the dead were children
and women as they could not resist the power of the
upcoming waves. Therefore, water and fire disasters
can prove to be devastating!
