A reddish yeast typically found in moist
environments such as carpeting, cooling coils, and drain
pans. In some countries it is the most common yeast
genus identified in indoor air. This yeast has been
reported to be allergenic. Positive skin tests have
been reported. It has colonized in terminally ill patients.
When it comes to spores there are those
types of spores that are in some cases not lethal when
it comes to human beings while in other cases this may
not be so. Taking for example Rhodotorula sp, which
is commensal yeast which in most case than one are responsible
for the contracting of opportunist infections. This
has been especially been reported on kids with cancer
who were exposed easily to the effect of this spore.
To treat the infections that are connected to this spore
however, one can use antifungal therapy or even the
aggressive type of therapy which may be dictated by
the extent to which this infection has spread. Due to
the low levels of immune system defenses on the terminally
ill patients, this spore has played a very big part
in seeing to it that the patients here are affected
the most.
But how does this spore come into contact
with human being. Rhodotorula sp a reddish type of yeast,
is like all other type of spores found in environments
that are moist. This environment plays a very big part
in the sustaining of this yeast which is unique in terms
of the many cases that are connected to it especially
when it comes to indoor air. For people who have an
intense reaction to this yeast, then having a carpet
inside the house should be avoided for this is one of
the places where the spore thrives most inside the house.
