It happened over the weekend (October 29, 2000) and was discovered on Monday morning. A carpet cleaning company extracted the effluence from the floors and due to complications with the tenants, they were let go shortly afterwards. We were contacted at 10 a.m. that morning to meet the property manager for consultation. Authorization was signed and a crew arrived immediately to setup containment.

In removing the base coving from the wall, mold started to show up as we approached one of the bathrooms. Because of the advanced colonies of mycelia behind the wallpaper, it became evident that a prior water loss occurred at an earlier date. It was as high as three feet up the wall in some areas. Although most of it was behind the wallpaper, feeding on the glue, there was fungal growth that ate the paper on the backside of the lower wall in some of the surrounding offices. It was more cost effective to just remove the wall and replace it then restore. The drywall contractor was on location replacing the wall we removed the first night.
