Mold is present everywhere. The mold spores are constantly carried by outdoor and indoor air. Mold becomes a problem when the spores land on a moist surfaces because it will grow and eventually become a health threat. People can recognize mold by both sight and smell. Most of the time, significant mold growth can be seen.

How to recognize mold

One will see white, black or greenish spots on moist surfaces such as bathroom and basement walls. Discoloration of walls and ceilings is usually an indicator of mold growth. There are also times when mold growth is hidden. Mold can develop beneath carpets and behind walls and ceilings. Hidden mold can usually be detected by a musty or earthy smell or a foul stench.
