Aspergillus japonicus

A - B - C - D - E - Next

Aspergillus japonicus is a type of aspergillus mold that thrives in outdoor environments. It has been isolated from tropical and subtropical soils, and has also been found in submerged organic debris. Colonies of this species are usually purplish-black in hue. For some authors, the aspergillus mold Aculeatus Izuka is a variety of A. japonicus, while others regard A.atroviolaceus Mosseray as its synonym.

Aspergillus japonicus

Aspergillus japonicus is a known allergenic, which simply means it can induce hypersensitivity to some people. While there are no reported cases of toxic or severe illnesses relating to this mold, past studies have isolated this fungus from cases of otitis, and as A. aculeatus from the scrapings of the tounge of a patient afflicted with respiratory illness.
