Aspergillus candidus

A - B - C - D - E - Next

Aspergillus candidus is a type of mold that grows indoors. It is commonly found in tropical and subtropical regions, and develops in certain types of foods and feed stuff such as corn, barley, wheat, sorghum, rice, penuts, spaghetti, dried macaroni, flour and refrigerated dough products. It has also been isolated from soils and even in birds that are either healthy or with lesions.

Aspergillus candidus
One of the distinctive features of Aspergillus candidus is that it has persistently white conidia. Studies have shown that this mold is allergenic and is an opportunistic pathogen. It has been involved in a wide range of human infections, including invasive aspergillosis, otomycosis, and onychomycosis. It is also seen as a respiratory hazard associated with grain dust.
